Glean is the company's memory: permissions-aware search across Slack, Drive, Jira, Confluence and email, with an org chart underneath. For finding the spec a colleague wrote, it is the answer.

The unit of trust is what differs. Glean trusts your employer's systems; Opyt trusts people you personally vouched for. One is internal and multiplayer, the other external and single-player.

Where Glean is better

Everything internal. Glean states 275+ connected work apps and data sources: Slack, Google Drive, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, GitHub, Salesforce. Opyt connects none of them.
Permissions, inherited from the source systems: “users only see what they’re allowed to see.” Opyt has no permissions model at all.
Teams. Opyt shares only as read-only access to a whole knowledge base, granted one reader at a time.
Scale and support that an MIT project does not have.
