Opyt

Opyt vs Mem0

Mem0 remembers what you told your agent. Opyt holds what the people you trust have published.

These get confused constantly, because agent memory is the phrase people reach for. They store different populations.

A memory layer stores the conversation: your preferences, facts you stated, state across sessions. Mem0 knows you prefer TypeScript. Opyt knows the eleven falsifiable claims in the forty-seven documents you hold on a topic. A memory layer also starts empty and stays empty until an agent writes to it. Opyt arrives with an acquisition engine already running.

Where Mem0 is better

  • Preference memory across sessions. Opyt does not do this at all and should not claim to.
  • They are infrastructure with SDKs, hosting and teams behind them.
  • Temporal reasoning over changing facts, which Zep in particular is purpose-built for.
  • They plug into an agent you are building. Opyt is one product with one opinion.

Where Opyt is better

  • It arrives with an acquisition engine. A memory layer starts at zero documents and stays there until an agent writes to it. Opyt's first import was 691 bookmarks and 492 follows.
  • Every hit traces to a live source URL from a person you confirmed.
  • It counts over 2,830 documents by topic, author and date. Of 2,804 saves, 1,551 came from people you had confirmed.
  • It ships as a finished product. There is nothing to build.

Which one

Pick Mem0 if

  • You are building an agent and need it to remember users
  • You need temporal reasoning over changing facts
  • You want an SDK, not an opinion

Pick Opyt if

  • You want a corpus of other people's published work
  • You want provenance on every claim
  • You want it working without writing code

The shared word is doing all the confusing here. Use a memory layer for conversation state and Opyt for a corpus.
